Mr. Sjöbring was the General Counsel and Secretary of Autoliv Inc., a Fortune 500 automotive safety parts supplier between 9/2007—7/2018, except 2/2014—11/2015 while serving as SVP, General Counsel of Transocean, Inc., the offshore driller. In 2018, Autoliv spun-off its electronics division as “Veoneer, Inc.”, which Mr. Sjöbring joined (NYSE: VNE) as its Executive Vice President Legal Affairs, General Counsel and Secretary.
Swedish by birth but a dual Swedish and U.S. citizen, Mr. Sjöbring holds law degrees from Sweden (Lund, jur. kand. 1994), the Netherlands (Amsterdam, LLM in European Law, 1995) and the U.S. (Fordham, LLM Corporate and Banking, 2003). Before Autoliv, he clerked in the Stockholm District Court, worked for Telia AB and Nokia Corp. as M&A counsel, and was a foreign associate with Skadden, Arps.
At Autoliv, Mr. Sjobring helped steward the company through its growth with sales and market cap in excess of $10BUSD. He helped guide the company through the financial crisis and its impact on the global automotive business, including the governmental investigations relating to alleged price fixing and the legal and regulatory processes surrounding the recalls facing competitors. While at Transocean, Mr. Sjobring successfully negotiated the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon incident.
